Can't Skate, Don't Care

It seems everywhere we look these days a band is becoming famous, another sport goes professional and another actor gives us their view on world peace. There is much more to our creative futures than starting a band, much more purpose to our lives than covered by professional sports and the average school kid has a more balanced and sincere opinion than most actors.

We have mistaken celebrity for over-exposure and hedonism for individuality and it is beginning to bite us in the ass. We seem to have forgotten and undervalued the people who actually create the things that make our lives easier, forsaken them in favour of the fantasy inherent in being popular and in the spotlight of mass media and the irony of this is that the people we have forsaken are us.

You can bet that 99.9% of the world have never been in a movie, never played a professional sport and never had a hit song. That's 99.9% of the world we have decided aren't worth appreciation, the people who make sure you have shoes to wear, food to eat, houses to live in and everything else in that wide range of activities called Life. Maybe it's time we look around at each other and the people who actually make a difference in our lives. Look passed the mass media and the popular views of our society and start finding pride in the real skills we have.
